What is Automotive Safety Glass?

Safety glass is used in all automobile window glass. The name really says it all. It's glass that is specifically manufactured to be far less dangerous on impact than common flat glass. A windshield does many things for an automobile. It complements the car's aerodynamic design. It provides optimum visibility. Special solar control glass compositions even protect the interior from the sun's harmful rays. But no auto glass function is more important than protecting the people inside the vehicle. The windshield provides a significant amount of strength to the structural support in the cabin of the vehicle. For instance, in a front end collision, the windshield provides up to 45% of the structural integrity of the cabin of the vehicle and in a rollover, up to 60%. Also in collisions, passenger airbags deploy against the windshield (therefore, broken windshields should be fixed as soon as possible to ensure complete effectiveness in passenger airbag deployment).

SIDE AND BACK GLASS
For Temporary Fix, watch video and/or scroll down for links and instructions

Tempered glass is a type of safety glass that is roughly four times stronger than "ordinary" glass. Automotive tempered glass offers protection from the elements and from debris. Because of its strength, vehicles are able to maintain highway speeds. Some argue that tempered glass makes it easier for rescuers to free trapped passengers in vehicles.

Does weather make a difference?

Answer: Yes for glued-in aka urethane-in glass like the Windshield, Quarter Glass and Back glass. It cannot be raining or snowing DURING glass installation. We prefer the temperature to be above freezing (technically, our glue/urethane can be applied at zero "0" degrees or warmer). Working on frozen metal and glass is time consuming, not to mention the misery of it all.

How Long Does a Windshield Replacement Take?

For most Windshield replacements, we ask that you budget roughly 3 hours: 1 hour for the mobile service arrival window and the remaining 2 hours for the safe the drive time.  Treat your vehicle as normal AFTER the time restriction (the safe drive time will be hand-written on your receipt).  For most side and back tempered glass, we ask that you budget roughly 2 1/2 hours.

“My truck was caught in a recent HUGE hail storm. I was out of town when it happened. My front window was demolished. Calling around after I returned home other auto glass shops were backed up 3+ weeks. I kept calling glass shops. Fortunately I called these kind folks. They were able to squeeze me in - saving my vacation that was coming up several days later. Here's the kicker. While driving over to our meeting spot - my radiator blew out. I texted them and told them I likely couldn't make it and to move on. They drove to me!! On top of it they spent money out of their own pocket and brought me water for the radiator to try and help limp my truck to an auto repair store! They replaced my window as I watched their special attention to every detail repairing my window. To say they are great is not enough. These people are exceptional. And - they are local - Colorado natives. They won't leave and leave you hanging if their are issues like might be experienced from out of state "storm hunters". I was so pleased that I will giving them my business for a different vehicle that needs window replacement soon. Price? I have USAA that has always taken care of me. These outstanding folks were able to replace my truck window for 20% less than the USAA recommended vendor. Overall - if I could add a star to their rating I would. I'd add one star higher just because they were sympathetic and helped me get on to my vacation!!.”

“I chose this company to replace my broken windshield honestly because it had the highest rating on Google (4.9 stars, with 50 reviews). And now that the job is done, I see why they are rated so well. I called, and Jewel answered the phone, and she greeted me cheerfully. I told her what car I needed fixed (actually two vehicles, a car and a truck), and she gave me a quote immediately, and said the windshields I needed were in stock, one of them up in Denver, and she could get them for me in time to fix both vehicles tomorrow morning. She set up for a 10:30am appointment the next morning. Larry, the technician, showed up right on time. He got to work immediately, and I watched as he did it. I am not an expert on windshields, but I do work on car engines, and I was interested to watch the glass replacement process. He is clearly very skilled at this. Said he's been doing it 27 years. I believe it. He was incredibly thorough, with meticulous attention to detail. Every clip, every inch, had his full attention. He did both vehicles perfectly, and they turned out great. He was friendly too, and happy to answer my questions. I actually called the office again after he was finished, and Jewel answered cheerfully again, and I thanked her for the excellent service. As I am a person who strives for excellence in my own work, I saw that he does as well. The price was good too. The total was exactly what was quoted on the phone. I'm very impressed. I would definitely use them again if I need glass work, and recommend them to anyone else.”
